Rural Medicine Australia 2013 will be held in Cairns from 31 October to 2 November. A number of one-day and two-day procedural workshops will be scheduled either side of the conference proper.

The record number of 450 delegates who attended RMA 2012 in Fremantle is expected to be exceeded in Cairns. All limited-place sessions and social events were fully subscribed. If you plan to attend RMA 2013 in Cairns, save the dates in your dairy (allowing for additional days either side for procedural workshops and personal touring).

This year, the inaugural World Summit on Rural Generalist Medicine will coincide with Rural Medicine Australia 2013. On Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October, rural doctors from around the world will meet with health planners, policy makers, researchers and educators to celebrate, share and plan for the future of generalism in health care.  At a time of increasing challenge for health systems across the world, generalist medicine is a critical strategy in achieving equity in health care, especially for rural and remote communities.
